L.S. Dunes appear on the cover of Alternative Press’ Winter 2024 Issue
L.S. Dunes — the post-hardcore collective composed of scene veterans Anthony Green, Frank Iero, Travis Stever, Tim Payne, and Tucker Rule — put out an incendiary debut in 2022 that documented a group of longtime friends jamming and writing songs during pandemic lockdowns. Three years and many tours later, they’re following it up with Violet, which shows a new side of the boundary-pushing supergroup.
All along, L.S. Dunes have been an opportunity for the members to push themselves creatively and escape expectations from their previous bands to create something wholly new. Yet they never forget how fun it is to make music together, tapping into a harmony that persists across its 10 tracks as their roles become more defined. In a conversation with Editor-in-Chief Anna Zanes, L.S. Dunes discuss the hope, confidence, and connection they’ve found as a band over the last few years, and how it’s been infused in the world of Violet.

“The way I can describe L.S. Dunes is like a trust fall,” Stever says. “This band is doing that with my melodies or guitar parts. They always catch them, and it doesn’t matter if it’s not exactly what I thought it was going to be. I trust that it’s going to be something that I really love. That’s what we do here. That’s what made me addicted to it from the get-go.”
“The definition of success to me — writing a song that gives me chills, that if I heard it from someone else, I would be fucking sick that I didn’t write it myself,” Iero adds. “So if this comes out and no one likes it, I don’t care. It’s already the best thing I have ever done, and one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.”
Preorder your copy today, including bundles with signed prints of the Violet cover art, and stay tuned this week. Also in AP’s Winter 2024 Issue, find features on Touché Amoré, Emo Nite, Chat Pile, and more.
