LCD Soundsystem Cancel Brooklyn Residency Due To COVID

“We also, now with all the new info, want to stop for our own sakes…”

LCD Soundsystem have pulled the final three dates in their Brooklyn residency.

The band launched the shows amid a fanfare of hype earlier this year, quickly selling out the lengthy run at Brooklyn Steel.

However LCD Soundsystem couldn’t have anticipated a new COVID variant, with omicron quickly spreading across New York.

With fans attempting to refund their tickets, the group initially shared a statement confirming their intention to continue.

“we said we would play, and people are coming, so we are playing,” the note read, before adding: “us playing the shows is in no way an indicator that it’s safe to attend.”

Now LCD Soundsystem have opted to pull the final three shows, confirming that messages from fans, their crew, and the band themselves led to this decision.

“You all have spoken. The last three shows are cancelled,” they wrote. “You good people who want to return your tickets and try again another time have spoken, but so has the new info, the hospital capacity, and those of us in the band, crew, and venue. We certainly had enough cancellations to make the vote count, but we also, now with all the new info, want to stop for our own sakes.”

Refunds are available, with LCD Soundsystem adding: “we will play again, so don’t worry about these particular shows.”
