Liam Gallagher’s blue plaque at Manchester Lidl goes missing – £500 reward offered for its return
A blue plaque dedicated to Liam Gallagher‘s almost-gig at Manchester’s Lidl has gone missing, and there’s a £500 reward for its return.
The plaque was put in place after Gallagher first joked he would perform in a Lidl if the new Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester wasn’t “sorted” in time for his ‘Definitely Maybe’ anniversary tour dates in the city in June.
It followed a string of technical issues and subsequent cancellations when the venue first opened earlier this year. Gigs and events from the likes of Olivia Rodrigo, Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Keane, Peter Kay and The Black Keys were postponed, leading to concern from Gallagher fans about his planned dates.
After a fan on X/Twitter asked what he would do if the issues hadn’t been resolved by the time his tour came around, he replied: “Gig in LIDL.”
Then, once the shows went ahead in their original location, a plaque was installed at Lidl’s Newton Heath store in Manchester, commemorating the gig that Liam Gallagher “almost” played there.
But now, it appears that the plaque has been stolen. Lidl has issued a plea for it to be returned “in time for Christmas”, and is offering a reward of £500 to spend in store for its safe return.
Anyone with any information on its whereabouts is asked to email dontlookplaqueinanger@lidlforever.com.

In other news, Oasis recently announced the South Korea and Japan dates for their eagerly anticipated 2025 reunion tour. They had already unveiled plans for huge stadium gigs in the UK and Ireland, followed by a string of dates in North America. They’ll then return for two extra dates at London’s Wembley Stadium in late September, before heading to Australia for shows in Melbourne and Sydney and then playing further dates in South America.
Gallagher has also dismissed rumours of new music, saying there’s “no Oasis album in the making”, despite previously telling fans on Twitter/X that he was “blown away” by the material Noel had written for the record.
