Inhaler have shared their hypnotic new single ‘Open Wide’ from their forthcoming album of the same name.

Featuring a rolling bass line, expansive guitar lines and Balearic-style percussion, ‘Open Wide’ sees frontman Elijah Hewson sing: “And I’ll hold down these ties / As much as I want freedom from you / You got your arms out open wide / You say, ‘Come on baby, take a look’,” yearning for his lover.

Speaking about the track in a press release, Hewson said: “‘Open Wide’ was originally a short electronic house demo that was lying around in our graveyard. We loved the bass line and the four to the floor kick on it.

“When we took it to the studio in London for the tracking of the album and started playing it in the room it took on almost the opposite form, it’s still got that hypnotic tunnel thing, but it’s gone panoramic. We love it.”

The lyric video for the song features clips of New York City’s Times Square, subway stations and the Brooklyn Bridge as well as clips of the band.

‘Open Wide’ marks the second single from the band’s third album of the same name, following lead single ‘Your House’. The album was produced by Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Florence + The Machine) and is set for release on February 7 2025 via Polydor. Visit here to pre-order and pre-save the LP.

Speaking to NME about how New York City served as an inspiration for the album, Hewson explained: “People always talk about that adrenaline of the journey from the airport to the city, when you drive over the bridge and you see the skyline for the first time. A lot of that energy was used to finish our songs, and having that kind of spark just made things feel fresher. We love Dublin and the UK, but whenever we land in New York, we just want to go and do something immediately.

“It was exciting to harness that energy and put it into music and lyrics, especially because there’s so much to write about there. You can sit in a park for hours and just watch people and never get bored.”

The band also opened up about the creation of their album with drummer Ryan McMahon sharing: “We’ve finally gotten to a point on this album where we actually sound like the band that we want to sound like. What happens after this one, I’m not sure what will sound like next, but there’s a strong sense of arrival for us.”

In other news, Inhaler are set to embark on a 2025 World Tour with stops in the UK, Europe and North America.
