moe. Cover the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway” for Los Angeles Show

Last night, 1/19, moe. played the second show in its winter tour at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles. To begin the first set, the band performed “West L.A. Fadeaway,” nodding to the Grateful Dead’s history in the city. Following the group’s cover of Stone Temple Pilots’ “Interstate Love Song” in San Diego on Thursday, 1/18, this treatment establishes a trend of acknowledging the musical legacy of each stop in their West Coast run.

moe.’s rendition of “West L.A. Fadeaway”–the band’s 14th performance of the song since its 2020 debut–set off the evening’s festivities with a bang. The band bridged the legendary late-career Dead hit into a medley with “Stranger Than Fiction,” Ghost of Jupiter’s “Yellow Tigers,” “Silver Sun,” “Ups and Downs” and live classic “Moth,” from 1996’s No Doy. The band brought the first set to a close with “Lazarus.”

To start the evening’s second act, moe. combined “Nebraska,” “Shoot First” and “Crushing,” followed by “ATL.” Next, the band performed “Meat,” “Billy Goat” and “Meat” again, then closed the second set with a return to “Moth.” Finally, the group ended the night with an encore of “Downward Facing Dog.”
