moe. Respond to Deadly Crash Following Kodak Center Performance

Tragically, early on New Year’s Day following moe.’s performance at the Kodak Center in Rochester, N.Y., a Ford Expedition crashed into a Mitsubishi Outlander, leading to the death of two people and leaving five injured. Later that day, the band posted a statement on social media addressing what happened in hopes of healing and making sense of a truly senseless start to 2024.

“Last night’s events outside the Kodak Center have left us all in profound shock and sadness,” the band wrote, opening their statement. “On a night that was meant for celebration and togetherness, we are faced instead with a tragedy that defies understanding.” They continued saying their hearts go to the family and friends of those who lost their lives, and their thoughts are with the injured.

moe. continued, “We are immensely thankful to the first responders and venue staff for their swift and courageous actions in securing everyone’s safety. The support and resilience shown by our Famoe.ly is a powerful reminder of the strength of our community.”

It is of note that emergency crews found more than a dozen gasoline canisters in and around the Ford Expedition after the fire was out, according to police – a Bomb Squad and Joint Arson Task Force were called to the scene to investigate further. The FBI is also reportedly involved in the investigation.

The band went on to express the importance of solidarity in moments of confusion and grief, writing, “While the full details of the incident are still unfolding, our focus remains on the well-being of those affected and on the spirit of unity that has always been the hallmark of our community.”

They rounded out the message by nodding to support “through all times, good and bad” and the values of “compassion, love and community” before closing the letter with, “Take care of yourselves and each other as we navigate this time together.”
