music industry executive about what drives sustainability from the top.

changemakers are transforming industry practices and demanding real progress.
  • Beyond Backlash: The High Stakes of Climate Advocacy: what it takes to support and

    safeguard musicians championing the planet.
  • Power Shift: The Evolving Landscape of Clean Energy: where solutions work best, where

they fall short and lessons learned from the trenches.
  • Wear the Change: Rethinking Merch: explore how artists and their teams navigate the

    challenges of sustainable merchandise.
  • Behind the Tracks: Music Production, Delivery, and Consumption: from packaging to

recycled and renewable vinyl, to significant energy use from streaming, what is the industry

    doing to meet the moment?
  • Nature Speaks and Takes the Stage: inside the groundbreaking initiatives that honor the

connection between music and the natural world.
  • Entertainment Allies: Strategies in Film, Sports and Broadway: valuable guidance to help

the music industry go further, faster.
  • Waste Not, Play On: Tackling the Trash Problem: a behind-the-scenes look at what

innovations venues are currently implementing to reduce and divert waste.
  • Can Live Music Weather the Storm? Economic Climate Impacts on Touring: how insurers and

others are adapting operations to meet today’s climate reality.

These conversations will be explored in formats including keynotes, panels, breakout sessions and roundtable discussions. The event will also offer dedicated networking time, a plant-based lunch, snacks and a cocktail reception.

Tickets for the summit are on sale now. As in 2024Billboard will be the summit’s official media sponsor.

In addition to conversation topics, the Music Sustainability Alliance (MSA), which puts on the Summit, has also announced a new partnership with Warner Music Group that will make it possible for accredited students to attend the event. The MSA Scholarship Program is offering full summit scholarships to 20 students and professionals just starting out in their careers who are passionate about music and sustainability. Applications are currently open.

Ahead of the conference, the MSA is also looking for input from music industry professionals regarding how sustainability is incorporated into their work. The window for submissions, which should be in the form of a short selfie video, is open until Jan. 17; guidelines are here. Submissions will be incorporated into the summit in February.

“In a time when climate action is overshadowed by politics, bringing our community together to align on shared goals has never been more important,” MSA CEO/co-founder Amy Morrison said in a statement. “This summit is our pivotal moment to unite, collaborate, and amplify the groundbreaking sustainability efforts transforming our industry. Together, we are leading the charge, using the power of music to shape culture and drive the urgent change needed to build a sustainable future — for music and for the planet.”
