MusiCares’ Grateful Dead Tribute Lineup to Feature Performances by Dead & Company, Dave Matthews, Billy Strings, Lukas Nelson and More

On January 31, 2025, MusiCares will celebrate the Grateful Dead’s legacy and monumental cultural impact during its impending Persons of the Year Gala in Los Angeles. Today, Jan. 21, the folks behind the event unveiled the official musician lineup of performing artists, presenters, and hosts that have signed on to participate in the night of full-fledged commemoration. 

The forthcoming performance lineup includes Dead & Company, composed of Grateful Dead original members Bobby Weir and Mickey Hart, John Mayer, Oteil Burbridge, Jeff Chimenti, and Jay Lane, as well as solo artists such as former Dead collaborator Bruce Hornsby. 

Dave Matthews, Mick Fleetwood, Stewart Copeland, Wynonna Judd, Billy Strings, Lukas Nelson, Norah Jones, Zac Brown, Sammy Hagar, Sierra Ferrell, Marren Morris, Maggie Rose and Dwight Yoakam are also included. As for bands, My Morning Jacket, Vampire Weekend, The War on Drugs, and The War and Treaty. 

“The benefit gala raises vital funds for MusiCares’ year-round efforts so that we can continue our mission of helping the music community in times of need – including our critical disaster relief efforts for music professionals affected by the Greater Los Angeles wildfires,” the non-profit organization imparted via its social media announcement. 

Joining the cast of musicians will be the event’s host, a Grateful Dead super fan, Bravo TV’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development, and a notorious close friend of Mayer, Andy Cohen. Also included on the lineup is presenter Bert Kreischer, a fellow jam fan and known comic.
