Neighbor Welcome Ryan Montbleau and Hayley Jane on The Louvin Brothers’ “Satan Is Real” Debut

This past weekend, Neighbor returned to the Higher Ground venue in South Burlington, Vt., for an electrifying night of music. The Saturday night stand occurred on Oct. 28, during which the Massachusetts natives delivered a packed night of covers and teases, beside a selection of originals. The band also welcomed sit-ins from Ryan Montbleau and Hayley Jane.  

The night kicked off with the original “Rosalia,” a song Neighbor only debuted last month at their Brooklyn Bowl gig on Sept. 8. The ensemble proceeded with catalog standouts, working in “Great Barrier Reef,” “Trippin’ in a Van,” “Under the Moon” and more. They also shared a few teases, including Lenny Kravitz’s “Mighty Apple Tree,” Black Sabbath’s “Electric Funeral,” and Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter,” and ran through Little Feat’s “Spanish Moon” with the first verse in Spanish. 

Neighbor started their second set with “Terror for Free” before transitioning to a cover of “Satan is Real” by The Louvin Brothers, which marked a debut. Montbleau and Jane, who live in the area, came out in support of the band for the first time cover, joining in on vocals. Earlier this year, the ensemble brought out Montbleau at Nectar’s in South Burlington, Vt. for a rendition of “If You Want Me to Stay” by Sly and the Family’s Stone. Neighbor then concluded the night with a tease of Black Sabbath’s “Electric Funeral.”
