Opeth Announce 2025 Australian Tour

Opeth will return to Australia in November 2025, marking their first shows locally in almost six years. The six-date national tour has been announced as part of a world tour in support of their soon-to-be-released 14th studio album, The Last Will & Testament. In addition to their Australian shows, Opeth will also return to New Zealand for the first time in eight years. The band will head to Aotearoa for one night only, playing at Auckland’s Town Hall on Friday, November 14th. More information for this show can be accessed via Ticketmaster New Zealand.

Heading up the band’s Australian return will be a two-night stand at the Sydney Opera House, marking the band’s return to the Concert Hall. The band famously played there in 2017, making them the first heavy metal band to ever perform in the Concert Hall – a year on from Deafheaven performing in the Joan Sutherland Theatre for that year’s Vivid LIVE.

Opeth – ‘The Grand Conjuration’

The Swedish metal band were last seen in Australia circa December 2019, playing a run of shows in support of their previous album In Cauda Venenum (“poison in the tail”). Since they were last here, the band’s line-up has shifted to include new drummer Waltteri Väyrynen, formerly of Paradise Lost, who replaced long-serving drummer Martin “Axe” Axenrot in 2022.

A pre-sale for the tour will go live from 11am AEDT/9am AWST on Thursday, November 14th 2024. General sale will then follow on Friday, November 15th 2024 – again at 11am AEDT/9am AWST. Both can be accessed via the official tour promoter, Metropolis Touring.
