Phil Lesh & Friends closed out their nine show run at The Capitol Theatre Halloween night with a plethora of covers and Grateful Dead favorites. The lineup for this stretch included Lesh, Nicki Bluhm, Larry Campbell, Griffin Goldsmith, Taylor Goldsmith, Grahame Lesh, Trevor Menear, Lee Pardini, M.C. Taylor and Teresa Williams

The band opened with a rocking “Playing In The Band” followed by “Tennessee Jed” before finishing out the first set with a cover of Blind Willie Johnson’s “Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning.”

The shows have been a longtime coming as Phil was originally set to celebrate his 80th birthday with a set of March 2020 concerts at The Capitol Theatre. (The shows were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)

The second set did not disappoint when the band returned to the stage for a groovy performance of “Scarlet Begonias” followed by Jerry Garcia’s “Sugaree,” before wrapping with Ellie Greenwich’s “River Deep, Mountain High.”

The encore kicked off with “Werewolves Of London” which often graces Dead-related setlists this time of the year, before ending the show with “Ripple.”
