Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Sell Out The Capitol Theatre with Opener Karina Rykman (A Gallery)

On Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong delivered their sold-out Capitol Theatre stand in Port Chester, N.Y. Before the headliner’s highly anticipated stage time, opener Karina Rykman and her band started the night, dipping into material from her debut set, Joyride. The New York native’s appearance gave way to the main attraction, which featured a special guest sit-in from professional musician and Berklee College of Music professor Tomo Fujita.

Highlights from the night included a debut of “Feet on the Ground” during the concert’s first half. The first-time play gave way to jam vehicle “Avalanche” paired with “Hedwig’s Theme” and back into the first segment of the multipart delivery. Fujita plugged in, adding to Perspective cut “Indiglo” and set closer, “F.U.” Upon their return to the historical stage, PPPP cut into “Mine,” followed by fan favorite “Horizon.”

Their guest returned for the night’s ensuing moments, adding to “Overtime,” which ran into follow-up, “Zydeko.” Sans guests, the billed performers interlaced teases of Led Zeppelin’s “Babe I’m Going to Leave You” and Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4” into The Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” Next, the Baltimore-bred jammers positioned “Couldn’t We All” with “The Liquid” before returning for an encore rendition of “Ocean Flows,”
