Rosé Bounces Back to No. 1 on ARIA Chart
Rosé is the Number One Girl again on the ARIA Chart.
The New Zealand-born, Australia-raised Blackpink star rebounds on the singles survey with “APT.”, her collaboration with Bruno Mars, up 2-1 for its fourth non-consecutive week atop the leaderboard.
“APT.” is lifted from Rosé’s forthcoming debut album Rosie, due out December 6th. The latest track from it, the appropriately titled “Number One Girl,” starts at No. 61 on the ARIA Chart, published Friday, November 29th.
As a member of Blackpink, Rosé has crushed records, played the biggest stages on earth and landed best-selling records everywhere. The K-pop powerhouse visited Australia in 2023 for a four-show, two-city arena trek in support of their second studio album BORN PINK. The LP went to No. 1 in the U.S. and U.K., and No. 2 in Australia.
Meanwhile, Gracie Abrams’ reign ends at one week, as “That’s So True” dips 1-2, while Billie Eilish’s former leader “Birds Of A Feather” improves 4-3.
Just two Australian tracks appear on the latest tally: The Kid Laroi’s “Nights Like This” (down 20-24) and Vance Joy’s “Riptide” (down 25-38).
Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, Kendrick Lamar has the fastest possible start as his surprise-release GNX opens at the summit.
GNX is the west coast rapper’s sixth studio album and his fifth ARIA top 10 after To Pimp A Butterfly (No. 1 in 2015), the compilation Untitled Unmastered (No. 3 in 2016), Damn (No. 2 in 2017) and Mr Morale & The Big Steppers (No. 1 in 2022), ARIA reports. Lamar also appeared on Black Panther: The Album, which peaked at No. 2 in 2018. Four cuts from GNX crack the top 20 on the ARIA Singles Chart, including two top 10s (“Luther” at No. 7 and “Squabble Up” at No. 9).
Also new to the chart is soundtrack to Wicked, at No. 3. The lead single, “Defying Gravity,” by the film’s stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grand, opens at No. 42.
Two homegrown acts score top 20 stars on the ARIA Albums Chart. The best of those is Sydney rockers RedHook with their second album, Mutation. It’s new at No. 15, for the Emmy Mack-led band’s first entry on the ARIA Chart.
Finally, Sydney singer, songwriter and musician Alex the Astronaut flies in at No. 19 with the EP Rage And All Its Friends. It’s the indie artist’s first chart appearance since 2020, when The Theory Of Absolutely Nothing peaked at No. 22.
All told, four Australian albums appear on the top 50 tally.
