Royel Otis have plotted a homecoming for the end of December, playing one last show to see the year out at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. At a capacity of 5500 people, it marks the band’s biggest-ever headlining show – across the road, no less, from the Sydney venue of their Pratts & Pain national tour back in February, Liberty Hall. Tickets for the show are on sale now via Ticketek.

The one-off show on Saturday, December 21st is simply billed as Coming Home. It marks the band’s first Australian show in ten months, having spent the majority of the year touring internationally in support of their aforementioned debut album Pratts & Pain. The album has been a rousing success, scoring eight ARIA Award nominations – of which they ended up winning four at last week’s ceremony: Best Rock Album, Best Group, Best Produced Release and Best Engineered Release.

Away from Pratts & Pain, Royel Otis have also found considerable success with two covers in 2024. The band recorded a rendition of Sophie Ellis Bextor‘s ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ for triple j‘s Like A Version in January, fresh from its cultural revival in the film Saltburn. The cover cracked the top 40 of the ARIA Charts, and was later certified Gold locally – as well as given the seal of approval from Bextor herself. The duo also recorded a stripped-back version of The Cranberries‘ 1993 hit ‘Linger’ for SiriusXM in April, which saw them crack the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in their careers.

Following their Hordern show, Royel Otis will take to the new year’s festival circuit as one of the marquee performers. The Sydney band are set to perform at this year’s Beyond The Valley, this year’s Lost Paradise and this year’s Wildlands over the end of 2024 and start of 2025.
