SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu says line distribution is “not important”
SEVENTEEN member Mingyu has spoken out about concerns surrounding the group’s line distribution in their recently released single ‘God of Music’.
SEVENTEEN released ‘God of Music’ and an accompanying music video on October 23. The song is the title track to the K-pop boyband’s 11th mini-album ‘Seventeenth Album’, which dropped on the same day.
Shortly after the single and album’s official release, the SEVENTEEN rapper took to fan community platform Weverse to host a live broadcast, where he spoke out the release and interacted with viewers.
However, after reading some comments he was receiving, Mingyu took it upon himself to address concerns over what fans have perceived as an unfair line distribution observed in ‘God of Music’, particularly with Mingyu.
“It’s my first time seeing this question from CARATs (SEVENTEEN’s fanbase): ‘Aren’t you upset that you don’t have many parts in the ‘God of Music’ music video?’” he he said, as translated by Koreaboo.
“No, never, never. I’m satisfied,” he told fans. “Because there are 13 members [in the group], there are certain albums and certain songs where I get more parts or other members get more parts. But that’s not important, to be honest.”
“We match well when we perform, so we just have to do our own parts well,” Mingyu added.
Hours prior to the arrival of ‘Seventeenth Heaven’ on October 23, it was announced by album distributor YG Plus that the record had achieved a record-breaking total of 5,206,718 pre-orders, making it the most pre-ordered K-pop album in history.
The previous record was set by Stray Kids earlier this year with the release of their studio album ‘5-Star’, which sold 5.13million copies in pre-orders. Notably, that album had broken a record that held by SEVENTEEN’s April mini-album ‘FML’.
Pledis Entertainment announced last week that the group’s leader, S.Coups, would not be present in most promotional activities for the new album in favour of post-surgery recovery. The idol had undergone surgery for anterior cruciate ligament and anterolateral ligament reconstruction two months prior, however is still recovering.
