SKULL & ROSES Festival to Return to Ventura County Fairgrounds with Phil Lesh, Dark Star Orchestra, Oteil & Friends, and More

SKULL & ROSES, a four-day festival that explores unique interpretations of the Grateful Dead’s music and the community that bloomed from it, is returning for its fourth installment at the iconic Ventura Country Fairgrounds. The event is slated to take place from April 7 through 10.

The lineup is flush with Grateful Dead namesakes, both contemporary and legendary. Phil Lesh & Friends will be performing, which marks the first time an original member of the Grateful Dead has performed for the Festival; Dark Star Orchestra will also add their expertise to the event. In addition, Oteil & Friends will return for their second appearance with SKULL & ROSES, and Melvin Seals & JGB will return for their fourth. The event has evolved since its inception and now welcomes music that isn’t exclusively Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia tunes but also musicians who the Dead has inspired, including Jackie Greene, Keller Williams, Circles Around The Sun, Midnight North, Pink Talking Fish and more.

SKULL & ROSES will have a different theme for each day, Egyptian Nights, Chinese New Year, New Year’s Eve and Mardi Gras, respectively. There will also be continuous music on a turntable stage which will sit at the same seaside site where 11 Grateful Dead concerts took place from ’82 through ’87. The festival will also feature parades, artisans, vendors, local beer and food, daily yoga, sound healing experiences and rejuvenating services.

Tickets go on sale on Nov. 11, at 11:11 a.m. find tickets here.
