The Playlist Alert app makes it easy to be notified when new songs appear on Spotify editorial playlists. Now the app is supporting Apple Music editorial playlists for the first time. Here’s the latest.

Editorial playlist featuring is one of the biggest needle-movers in the industry, so knowing when your song is featured can be incredibly meaningful. The Playlist Alert app notifies artists as quickly as possible when songs are added to the playlist—usually within a matter of minutes. The app also features the ability to track the progress of a song over time, including its charting position and whether it has moved up or down.

Playlist Alert monitors official editorial playlists and viral and country charts globally, so artists across the globe can track their success. It’s also worth noting that the app features integration with Apple Watch, so any notifications of new song features are delivered straight to your wrist. Best of all, Playlist Alert is completely free to use and features no ads—making it a must-have app in any rising artists’ arsenal.

Who made Playlist Alert?

Kieron Donoghue created Playlist Alert and Humble Angel Records and has been in the music and tech space since 2009. He built Playlists.net as the first platform to Spotify’s API. Donoghue went on to create Topsify, which he sold to Warner Music in 2014. After spending three years at Warner Music as VP of Global Playlist Strategy & Curation, Donoghue left in 2017 to start an independent record label and develop the Playlist Alert app.

Adding Apple Music editorial playlists to the app means two of the biggest music streaming services in the world are now supported. Spotify’s playlists often closely mirror trends on social media, such as the rise of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor” after its sync feature in the viral movie ‘Saltburn.’ Kate Bush also saw a notable revival with the release of ‘Stranger Things,’ which featured her song “Runnin’ Up That Hill.”
