It’s time to open your Spotify time capsules made in 2023 and create a new ‘Playlist in a Bottle’ to open next year. Here’s how to make the most of this limited time feature.

If you’re one of the many millions of Spotify users who created a “Playlist in a Bottle” — the streaming platform’s time capsule feature to showcase how your listening tastes might have evolved over the past year — then you’re in for a treat you can only access throughout the month of January.

You can now open your 2023 “bottle,” claiming your playlist to see which songs you sealed in your time capsule last year. All Spotify users can also create their time capsules to open in 2025, whether you created one for 2024 or not.

To unlock your Spotify Playlist in a Bottle time capsule from last year:

  1. Visit this link on your mobile device, or on a desktop and scan the QR code with your phone
  2. Choose “claim your playlist” to see which songs you sealed in your time capsule in 2023
  3. Save and listen to your Playlist in a Bottle
  4. It’s important to note that you only have until January 31 to claim your 2023 playlist.

Regardless of whether you created a playlist last year, you can now create a new Playlist in a Bottle to open in 2025. Spotify has introduced a new set of questions this time around to help curate your playlist, such as, “What song brings out my alter ego?” This time, you can select from an array of “objects” other than a bottle (a snow globe, a flip phone, a bird’s nest, a rice cooker, or a dumpster) to use as your time capsule, and even write a note to your future self.

To create your new Spotify Playlist in a Bottle for 2024:

  1. Visit this link on your mobile device, or on a desktop and scan the QR code with your phone
  2. Select where you want to store your playlist from a series of “objects”
  3. Complete the prompts to help curate your playlist
  4. Leave a note for your future self and “seal” your time capsule
  5. Share the resulting #PlaylistInABottle card to your social media of choice
  6. You have until January 31 to create and seal your time capsule, as well as to open your previous time capsule, if you made one.

Spotify’s Playlist in a Bottle feature is available across a wide array of regions (including Saudi Arabia and the UAE) as well as in several languages, including Portuguese, French, Dutch, German, Polish, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Japanese, Czech, Thai, and Bahasa Indonesia.
