Sydney’s FANGZ Drop New Punk Belter ‘Wide Awake’ & ‘FANGZSTOCK’ East Coast Mini-Festivals

Sydney punk disruptors FANGZ are back with a double-whammy of news. Not only are they serving up a gritty new dose of party punk in the form of ‘Wide Awake’, a feverish new single produced by LOSER‘s Tim Maxwell, they’ve also announced a trio of curated East Coast mini festivals for 2025.

Dubbed FANGZstock, the branded punk block parties will see FANGZ team up with Sydney doom purveyors Mountain Wizard Death Cult to hit three local venues across Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney in late January/early February 2025.

FANGZ – ‘Wide Awake’

Each event will be stacked with a unique local lineup, plus a bunch of extracurricular festivities including a Hot Dog Eating Contest, “Unlucky Door Prize” and Kissing Booth.

On the topic of new single ‘Wide Awake’, FANGZ frontman Josh Cottreau explains that the tune was written about “that gut-wrenching moment when you’re lying awake, realizing a relationship that once felt so right just isn’t there anymore”.

“It’s that quiet understanding that somehow, along the way, you both changed and now you’re almost strangers,” he continues. “There’s no anger here, just a bittersweet acceptance—letting go with respect and a bit of sadness, knowing it’s time to find happiness in new directions.”
