Talking Heads Reportedly Turn Down $80 Million Reunion, A24 Announces ‘Everyone’s Getting Involved’ Tribute to ‘Stop Making Sense’

Talking Heads have reportedly turned down an $80 million offer from Live Nation to continue their collective live music legacy following the successful re-release of the Jonathan Demme directed concert film Stop Making Sense. Coupled with the news, first reported by Billboard, is A24 Music’s preview of the impending compilation album, Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.

Billboard shared that the Talking Heads received an $80 million offer via Live Nation, with the band contractually obligated to participate in six to eight festival appearances and headlining concerts, including Coachella. The prompted reemergence would have ended the original ensemble’s 40-year lapse in on-stage appearances.

Apart from the Billboard report, an initial preview of Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense, has been shared. Paramore delivered their cover of the Talking Heads classic, “Burning Down the House.” The first listen scraps the surface of the 16-song tracking list, which includes other classic compositions from the 1984 release, like “Psycho Killer,” “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody,” “Once in a Lifetime” and many others.

Everyone’s Getting Involved presents a mirrored presentation of the original LP tracking list with featured contributions from various artists, like The National, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, girl in red, Jean Dawson, Kevin Abstract, The Linda Lindas, The Cavemen, Chicano Batman Feat. Money Mark, DJ Túnez, El Mató a un Policía motorizado, BADBADNOTGOOD, Blondshell, Toro y Moi, Teezo Touchdown and Jean Dawson.

Through the recent re-release of the concert film, the original members of Talking Heads, David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison, were able to reunite in conversation for the first time since 2002–igniting hope for a reunion tour.

A release date for the LP has yet to be set.
