Taper’s Choice made their inaugural appearance at Los Angeles’ Troubadour last night. The quartet—who recently served as the house band for the Relix 50 party at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl—kicked off their two-set show with a nod to The Band’s Garth Hudson, who recently passed away, in the form of one of his signature tunes, “Chest Fever.” The staple by The Band, which was performed complete with its “The Genetic Method” organ showcase intro, doubled as a tribute to another artist who had recently passed away, David Lynch, and the band embedded the theme to Twin Peaks into the tune.

Later in the show, Taper’s Choice invited out Sylvan Esso‘s Nick Sanborn to play synth on “Lilac Palace.” The musician, who is old friends with the band members, recently sat in with the group in North Carolina as well.

Taper’s Choice will appear at Albany, CA’s Ivy Room this evening.
