Taylor Swift Sets New Record With Another Week At No.1

Fresh from returning to the top last week, Taylor Swift has held steady at No.1 on the ARIA Albums Chart this week, and set another record in the process.

Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department has notched up its seventh non-consecutive week on top this year, making it the longest running No.1 album in Australia for 2024. She moves ahead of her tour buddy Sabrina Carpenter, who she was tied with last week. Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet has spent six weeks at No.1 this year, and the album is at No.3 this week.

Debuting at No.2 is Australian raised K-pop star Rosé with her new album Rosie. As a member of Blackpink, Rosé has racked up two No.2 albums here – The Album in 2021 and Born Pink in 2022. The album’s lead single ‘APT’ with Bruno Mars remains at  #1 on the singles chart.

While Tay Tay, Sabrina and Rosé are leading the pack, the festive season is starting to rear its head, with Christmas-themed tracks starting to creep into the Top 20 of the singles chart.

Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ at No.8, Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ is at No. 10 and Brenda Lee’s ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ at No.16. Let’s see what impact they might have on the next week’s chart as the holiday season draws closer.
