The Disco Biscuits have concluded their run at Belly Up Aspen in Aspen, Colo. Over the course of the three-night series in The Centennial State, the trance fusion jammers treated their audience to an improvisational heavy display, including a rare three-song latter frame on Feb. 6. A feature of last night’s follow-up, Feb. 7, included teases from the movie Dumb and Dumber courtesy of Aron Magner, as a nod to the film location.

The first night on the Belly Up Aspen stage started off with a “Space Train,” which ran into an inverted “Abraxas.” The band turned out well-seasoned material, including a ricochet of “Voices Insane” into “Shadow” and back to “Voices.” Their second set follow-up included a twisted “Confrontation,” which saw the band start with the song’s ending, merge into “Electric Avenue,” and pick up the start with techno flair.

The Disco Biscuits continued their Aspen run on Feb. 6, adding a debut to their first set, Massive Attack’s “Teardrop.” Most noteworthy was the band’s decision to follow with a rare three-song second set: an ad-lib of instrumental moments, stretching and warping the trio of songs, including an over 40-minute “I-Man,” an 18-minute rendition of “No Recollection” and lastly, a 15-minute “Astronaut.”

The group’s third and final night in Aspen saw odes to the location through Magner’s Dumb and Dumber additions, which permeated the setlist for an added layer to the night’s display. During the second set, the band dusted off “Moshi Fameus,” concluding a 109-show gap since its last play on July 1, 2022.

After The Disco Biscuit’s Aspen stand, they will turn up at the Boulder Theatre on Friday, Feb. 9, for the first of three nights of sold-out concerts.
