The Moonlandingz have finally returned with a new single, ‘The Sign Of A Man’ – almost eight years on from their debut album. Listen below, and find details of an upcoming London gig.

The Sheffield band – featuring Fat White Family members Saul Adamczewski and Lias Kaci Saoudi – released their first full-length effort, ‘Interplanetary Class Classics’, in March 2017.

Co-produced by Sean Ono Lennon, the record contains contributions from Yoko Ono, Philip Oakey of The Human League, and Rebecca Lucy Taylor (aka Self Esteem). NME called the LP “bonkers and brilliant” in a four-star review.

Now, The Moonlandingz have made a comeback with a brand-new track and news of a one-off live show in London.

Arriving via Transgressive Records, ‘The Sign Of A Man’ serves as the first preview of the group’s forthcoming second album ‘No Rocket Required’.

The thumping and eccentric anthem finds Saoudi (aka Johnny Rocket) “disco-ka-pow-pow-ing all over any brittle ideas of bloke-ness to deeply erotic and pleasantly frantic effect”. It arrives with an official music video, directed by Jeanie Crystal. Tune in here:

Speaking about the single, Saoudi explained: “Nature left man half-finished, unresolved, alienated, lost to permanent exile, unable or unwilling to surrender even to himself…is it any wonder he grew callous?”

“This is a song about torpor unbound, about the relegation of love into need, about our failure to summon up ‘care’… this is a song about justice.”

‘The Sign Of A Man’ was written, recorded, produced and mixed at The Bowling Green Studios in Sheffield. No further information about ‘No Rocket Required’ has been shared currently.

The Moonlandingz are due to return to the stage for a gig at The Lexington in north London on Friday February 21. Find ticket details here, and see the official poster above.

Last September, the group performed a set at The Garage in the capital as part of Transgressive Records’ 20th anniversary celebrations. It marked their first show in almost seven years.

Meanwhile, Fat White Family are set to support Primal Scream in London this April, and have numerous French dates scheduled for March. Their fourth and latest album, ‘Forgiveness Is Yours’, was released last spring.
