U.S. live music veteran Randy Phillips joins TEG board
Legendary American live events producer Randy Phillips joins the TEG board of directors.
Phillips, whose role is said to be both advisory and operational, is named to the TEG board just one week after producing and promoting Ye and Drake’s sold-out “Free Larry Hoover” benefit concert, held Dec. 9 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
At TEG, the Australian concerts, ticketing and technology group, Phillips will work alongside L.A.-based executive Amos Pizzey, founder of branding and sponsorship company Talenthouse, to contribute to the expansion of the business’s footprint.
Most recently, Phillips served for five years as President and CEO of music event producer LiveStyle, Inc. Prior to that, Phillips was CEO at AEG Live for 13 years, where he promoted world tours for the likes of Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Rod Stewart, and Prince, and guided AEG’s rise as a touring force.
At AEG, he directed the live entertainment giant’s network of regional offices and worked with subsidiaries including Goldenvoice, Concerts West, and TMG-AEG Live.
“Randy’s track record in the business speaks for itself,” comments Geoff Jones, Group CEO, TEG. “He has done just about everything in the live space and has enormous knowledge, experience, and expertise that I look forward to tapping into and working collaboratively with in order to grow the TEG business globally. Randy shares our growth aspirations, and I have really enjoyed working with him so far. He has already added so much, and I look forward to a long partnership with Randy.”
Joining the TEG team is “a dream come true,” says Phillips, who pays tribute to Jones for building “an incredibly well-run and market-leading company in Australia/New Zealand and… (a) success across the globe.”
There’s a lot more to come, he insists. “This is just the beginning since our artists work for their fans and TEG works for our artists. Together with my colleagues on the Board and in the operating divisions of TEG, we plan on strategically growing the business through organic growth and acquisitions.”
TEG and majority owner Silver Lake Capital financed the sold-out fundraiser earlier this month, which raised awareness and support for Larry Hoover and the cause of prison and sentencing reform.
TEG’s sprawling international network spans ticketing, live entertainment and technology, with interests including Ticketek, TEG Live, Qudos Bank Arena, Eventopia, TEG Dainty, Van Egmond Group and more.
In recent years, the group announced a string of executive hires and promotions, another plank in its long-term strategy for international expansion.
Among the new hires was Chief Technology Officer Cameron Stone, formerly with Virgin Australia, and Chief Operating Officer Ian Ball, who joined the company from ASX-listed global professional services company Cardno.
