Wunderhorse pull out of Fontaines D.C.’s Australia and New Zealand tour
Wunderhorse have shared that they will no longer be able to support Fontaines D.C. on their Australian and New Zeland tour.
Jacob Slater and co took to their official Instagram page to explain that they will not be able to join the Dublin rockers as opening support for the string of dates they had scheduled down under.
“We want to thank Fontaines D.C. for taking us on this journey so far. We are grateful and humbled to have been offered such a great opportunity but, due to unforeseen personal circumstances, we are unable to make the trip in March,” they wrote.
Wunderhorse also revealed that Shame will be stepping in and taking over the opening slot for the tour. They added: “We will have news of our rescheduled headline dates very soon. Purchased tickets for the headline shows will remain valid. If you are unable to attend the new dates, refunds will be available at point of purchase. Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to see you at our rescheduled dates in AUS & NZ.”
The band are set to kick off their US tour tomorrow at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom. You can check out a full list of dates and purchase tickets here.
The string of dates are in support of their second album ‘Midas’. In a four-star review by NME, the LP was described as “a masterclass in the business of evolution”.
“Where that debut album focused on Slater finally becoming the songwriter he had the potential to be, its follow-up reworks and refines his strong storytelling,” it read. “Here, the frontman enriches his lyrics and pairs them with a dash of chaotic energy brought in by his bandmates and the unity between them.
“Though it’s meant to be a second album, ‘Midas’ feels like a fresh start for a group that, through becoming a proper team, has found its way. It may only be a second album, but it looks like the business of Wunderhorse is set to continue to prosper.”
Elsewhere, Wunderhorse will embark on a UK tour later this year which will see them take over London’s Alexandria Palace, marking their biggest headlining gig to date.
They are also set to perform at various festivals this summer including Neighbourhood Weekender, Truck Festival, Victorious Festival, TRNSMT and Bilbao BBK.
